Trombone Shorty at Virgin Mobile FreeDest

Dad reporting agin. Somewhere in the middle of all those waving arms is Trombone Shorty leading a New Orleans style Second Line March thru the field in front if the west stage at Merriweather Post Pavilion. What a great show! Horns, beats, ripping guitar abd gear songs all capped off by the frenzy pictured here.

So we are 2 for 2, but Damn, it’s hot.

Virgin Mobile Fest 2010 Temper Trap

Dad here. Just caught a brilliant set of inventive modern primitive Rock from The Temper Trap. The primitive part was the multiple drummers and tribal beats, the modern part was the songwriting and spare angular guitar riffing. Great opener for the day! On to Trombone Shorty…

Sparks Fly for The Pretty Reckless’ Make Me Wanna Die Video

Earlier this week Taylor Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless released the official video for the song Make Me Wanna Die. The video is well made and definitely brings the fire if you know what I mean. Being as young as she is, is Momsen turning the temperature up too high as she removes her clothing piece by piece? Is she showing the world her true self or is she trying too hard. As Taylor toured on the Vans Warped Tour all summer she gained much respect from concert-goers and other artists, despite the fact that she wore the same outfit for the majority of the tour. Nevertheless, The Pretty Reckless is putting out consistent content and we like it, we hope you do too.

Woe, Is Me Covers Katy Perry for Punk Goes Pop 3

Woe is me

We recently posted about Breathe Carolina covering Jay Sean's Down for Punk Goes Pop and now Woe, Is Me has released their cover of Hot And Cold by Katy Perry. I won't go into my views of Katy, or her whipped cream bra cannons, in this post but I will say this is one of a few songs of hers that I really enjoy. The song is extremely relatable and it's great to hers Woe, Is Me's take on the song because it turns the whole dynamic of the song around. Now instead of a guy who is fickle about everything and afraid to commit, we have a song about a girl who pretty much is eternally PMSing. As the release for Punk Goes Pop three gets shorter the tracks that are released just keep getting better.
